Juliana Maitenaz
Juliana Maitenaz is a percussionist, Fulbright research scholar, and graduate of the University of Southern California, where she earned a Master of Public Diplomacy. She is from Brooklyn, New York.
Maitenaz researches the transformation of percussion from an instrument of military force to one of soft power and cultural diplomacy, more recently focusing on how percussive elements in the Brazilian traditions of Carnaval and samba schools are instrumental to the country’s statecraft and national identity.
